second boats
I’m looking at second hand boats and am wondering a few things?
Ok well me and my father got our licenses half way through last year and are looking at getting a boat in about a month.
We have a small budget so we are looking at second hand boats and need something under 10, 000 preferably under 5,000
We need something that can pull a blow up donut or knee boarder
Also something that can hold 5 people, (2 adults 3 kids)
I mainly wanted to find out if there is an age were boats start falling apart, Also is there an age at which a motor would start having problems
If you now of anything that would be suitable or can give me any advice on what to by and what to look out for when looking at second hand boats it would be greatly appreciated

Some things you want to check are the transom; make sure you don’t have any sponginess, especially around where the motor mounts to it. Another thing is to make sure the stringers (sort of like ribs that radiate out from the keel of the boat) are in good shape. These are two areas where boats “fall apart”, are expensive to fix, and easy to overlook. For that kind of money it would be worth it to insist on a marine survey by a professional and/or licensed marine surveyor.
