What type of fresh water (pond) fish resembles a small lobster?
After trying to find an answer by surfing and coming up short handed I’m posting this question here. We live in Michigan, and have a small pond we built about 3 years ago. We do have ducks that visit the pond each morning so I’m sure they brought this ‘species’ into the pond. The other day, my daughter and her friend, went to but the row boat into the pond and came in screaming about some type of lobster in the boat. My husband went out, saw that indeed there appeared to be small lobsters (crayfish???) in the boat. I can not find anything that would indicate that this type of fish has taken up habitation in our pond, so I’m assuming I need to do the following?
1. Identify the fish
2. Check with the local DNR office to see if its ok to treat to rid us of this type of fish.
3. Treat the pond according to the local laws.
It’s the first step I need help with. Any ideas anyone?
