john boats aluminum
yeah.me and my grand pa recently bought a boat? and i have some questions about putting it in and out of the w?

we have a old aluminum john boat.and its some what nice it not an old beat up redneck boat(no offense to the rednecks)but my gpa and i where putting in like a couple of days after we bought it and it slid off pretty easy.i had to push the rest off.but the main concern is when putting it back on the trailer should i drive it or just pull it up like i have been with the rope.or are me and my gpa missing something. im 14 and i dive it.(yes i am skilled i am not one of those wild teens that aren’t careful and drive fast).and i know your go in to say have ur grandpa drive it but he incest that i drive it.and i love driving it.and actually im better than he is.anyways i hope you guys can answer my question.and im sure that the trailer is the right size.i just hate the faces and staires they give me and my pa.i just hope you guys can help thank you

Around here, we all drive on to our trailers with never a problem.

But I’ve heard that in some parts of the country they frown on people driving on to trailers, because over time the prop wash causes a build-up of silt into a hump, in the worst possible place.

You didn’t ask, but here’s some advice anyway: Have a routine for launching and never vary from it for any reason. They say there’s only two kinds of boaters: those that have launched without the drain plug, and those that will.

Myself, I have a rule that once I have a trailer tie-down strap in my hand, I can’t set it down until the plug is *IN*. That way at least if I ever do launch without the plug, at least the boat can’t leave the trailer.

Reminds me of the time when my nephew Neil was 14 and he went fishing with his grandpa. Grandpa used to let Neil pull the car off the ramp & park it sometimes if it wasn’t too crowded. They were fishing under the hwy 287 bridge when a game warden appeared on the bridge and shouted down to ‘em, “did you guys launch at the old 287 ramp?”
“Yep, why?”
Warden says, “there’s a pick-up parked there with door wide open and engine running.”
