illinois boats for sale

illinois boats for sale
I have a Bill of Sale but the other guy has the title and now he wants more money?

I traded a car for a boat with a guy and at the time he told me he had no title and to just file for a lost one. Well now 6 months later he calls wanting $500 for the title and if we don’t give it to him he is going to say it’s stolen. He has my car the title to the car and the title to the boat and now he wants $500. The boat broke down during our first ride, and cost us several hundred dollars to repair. What are my options? The bill of sale said sold for a $1. What do I do? I really don’t want to have to get a lawyer. Also I don’t know if it matters or not, but I live in Illinois. Thank you for all of your help

You really have nothing legally.

You probably wouldnt have a case in court either.

But, with a bill of sale, I doubt he will report it stolen because your bill of sale is proof its not. (Assuming its real and signed by him)

Further he would get arrested for filing a false police report.

I have no idea how you can legally get the title from him. You set yourself up for this, now you have no leverage.
