Field Hockey or Crew?

Hi! I’m going to be a freshman next year in a new school, and I want to join a sport to make new friends. All of my old friends from school are joining field hockey, which has a reputation for all the good girls. (I am a good girl, and this doesnt bother me.) But my other friend wants me to join crew (rowing).

The field hockey girls say that crew is a cult, and the crew kids say field hockey girls are ditzy, goody-two-shoes, or bitches.

I don’t particuarly love either sport (or any sport, lol), so that doesn’t matter. If I did crew I would be a coxin (leading the boat) because I’m not big enough to row.

I don’t know what to do!
I guess I’m leaning towards field hockey because I don’t want to gain a ton of muscle, and because of a back brace I have for scoliosis I can’t be underwater..

Being a coxswain really isn’t so bad, you just sit and the boat and basically yell to keep the pace. You get to pretty much boss everyone around. But field hockey is really fun as well. Only you can get a bunch of lovely bruises and scratches…

Would you say that you want to get tone or actually build a lot of muscle? Because when my sister did rowing, she gained about ten pounds in muscle. If you just want to get in shape, I’d say field hockey. Also, are you a good swimmer? Usually when a team wins, the rowers throw the coxswain in the water. And there’s always the chance of a boat flipping over.

Yeah, with the back brace and stuff, I’d suggest field hockey.
