Holiday on the Gold Coast – Surfers Paradise – what to do?

I’m heading up to the Gold Coast with my hubby on Thursday (off season I know but still nicer than Canberra during winter!) and we are seeing the Outback Spectacular and heading to Movieworld and Dreamworld, have you got any other suggestions of things we may be able to do?

We would love to go fishing on a charter boat or something, just after some other day time activities

If it were me I’d go to the top of Q1 the Q Deck and also visit the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. If you want a good night out try Dracula’s Cabaret Restaurant.
Check out the websites below.

Travel to the very top of the World’s Tallest Residential Tower in one of the world’s fastest elevators. You’ll experience spectacular 360 degree Gold Coast views from the surf to the hinterland and beyond, and have the option to relax with coffee and cake from QBar.

The Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is a great day out, especially the lorikeet feeding.

Lorikeet feed
Our lorikeet feeding is what made the sanctuary famous.
You can still experience the noisy and colourful flocks of wild lorikeets every day as they come in to feed.
The Lorikeets that feed at the sanctuary are completely wild. Numbers vary from day to day, depending on seasonal flowering of local food trees and the presence of predatory birds in the area.

Using original material from the P&O archives and drawing on personal collections, this book explores the part “Canberra” has played in history since the early stages of planning in the 1950s through to her forthcoming retirement. The withdrawal of “Canberra”, P&O’s most famous cruise liner, will take place in September 1997. “Canberra” was built in 1961 as a liner working the route from Southampt…

Greek Passenger Liners

In the early 1950s, it seemed as if Greek shipping companies were springing up everywhere. For a country almost unknown as a passenger ship-owning state, the like of the Greek Line, Chandris and Epirotiki burst onto the scene, often using second hand tonnage and ships acquired from Western European fleets that were being updated. The lines soon took advantage of the mass emigration from Europe to …

SS Canberra was the last ocean liner to be built by Harland & Wolff—builder of the Titanic—and she sailed on the P&O route to Australia, taking emigrants to the Antipodes. She was involved in the Falklands War and sailed directly in to the war zone to offload troops and take wounded soldiers back to the U.K., but it is her last years serving as a cruise ship for which she will be best remember…
