How do you deal with your first deployment?
My boyfriend of almost 2 years, just joined the Army in Oct. 2008. He is stationed in Fort Lewis,WA. He has only been there since April 14. They are already talking about deploying around July 15. I know i am going to stay with him throughout the whole thing that is not even an option of leaving….i just want to know how to deal with it. I am about to graduate high school and start college in the fall. If you have any advice i would love to hear it. Thanks

My fiance and I have been together for 5 years. He was is now deployed in Afghanistan. It sucks, but we are making it through it. Always remind him of how much you miss and love him, but don’t get upset when he can’t talk for periods of time. Enjoy your college life and stay busy, but remain faithful. While at school find a good church, and a great group of friends who will be there when times get hard for you, and pray for him every night. Faith helps everything, for both of you. email or write him when you’re thinking about him just so that he knows you haven’t forgotten about him, and remember, it is harder for him than it is for you, he has to be away from everyone he loves. Stay strong girl, an army man is a great man, and i don’t know what i would do without mine.
